Soup Base (Velouté)

Just two cups of chicken stock will help you turn one of our classic gravy mixes into a flexible and fabulous soup base you can use in all sorts of delicious sauces. It’s Velouté made easy!


  • 1 qt. Pioneer® Old Fashioned Biscuit Gravy Mix (94706), Pioneer® Peppered Old Fashioned Gravy Mix (94722), or Pioneer® Country Style Gravy Mix (94595), prepared
  • 2 cups Chicken stock


  • Combine prepared gravy with chicken stock and whisk until fully incorporated.
  • Simmer for 5 minutes. Add salt and black pepper to taste.
